It's a sleet-slick Monday morning and Walter Staib, Philadelphia's mayorally appointed Culinary Ambassador to the City of Philadelphia, has been on the phone to the world since 6 a.m. But an airline ticket to tomorrow's destination-Atlanta--got tangled in bureaucracy and necessitated his presence at the city's airport. It has derailed him and his agenda by 50 minutes, says an assistant.
But Staib returns to City Tavern, his restaurant on South 2nd Street, and barrels up three flights of stairs to his office. No speeding ticket, he boasts with a smile.
