Jack Spencer's dad was a banker. He was part-owner of a community bank in Illinois, and his son recalls many dinner conversations about lending. When Jack graduated from college, he went to work for a community bank himself. Now, 18 years later, Jack is again in the banking business, but this time as a State Farm Insurance agent in Rock Falls, Ill., a community of about 10,000 near the Quad Cities.
