The growing asset management prowess of the largest players in the property-casualty insurance and insurance industries may prompt future investors to view these companies as longer-term strategic investments, a number of analysts contend.
In a July 14 report, insurance analysts from Deutsche Banc Alex Brown in New York noted that several U.S. p-c insurance and reinsurance giants seem to have taken a longer view of the old boom-or-bust cycle of the industry by developing asset management skills or buying companies that have such capabilities.
