WASHINGTON, Sept. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- America's Community Bankers, the trade group for progressive community banks, today applauded the actions of federal regulators in bringing about the sale of branches to community banks in the Fleet Financial Group acquisition of BankBoston Corp.
America's Community Bankers met on several occasions with Federal Reserve Board and Justice Department officials earlier this year, and testified at a public hearing in Boston, on the need to ensure a strong role for community banking throughout the New England region.
