Sep. 15 -- At a McDonald's in Hyde Park, general manager Vijay Selhi inspects $40,000 worth of new computerized cooking equipment -- equipment McDonald's hopes will change perceptions that its food is something relished only by omnivorous 12-year-olds.

Gone from the restaurant are the bins where once Quarter Pounders languished under heat lamps. Instead there are video screens that track orders and high-tech toasters that can brown a sesame-seed bun in 12 seconds, 43 seconds faster than a conventional toaster.
