Five line up for pumped storage power contract

Five international groups are preparing to bid for the construction of an estimated $250 million pumped storage project near Beni Mellal, says the client, Office National de l'Electricite (ONE). The bidding deadline for the 450-MW plant is 28 September (MEED 2:7:99).

The consortium leaders are understood to be Zurich-based ABB Asea Brown Boveri, Alstom of France, Italy's Ansaldo Energia, Siemens Power Generation of Germany and Belgium's Tractebel. The groups will also include construction companies and engineering consultants.
