In April 1997, Jan Clauss interviewed two West German and one East German student on the situation "in the East" at the Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (Thuringia). Those interviewed were: Daniel Herz, a twenty-three-year-old third-year medical student from Zweibrucken (Rhineland-Palatinate); Maike Dury, a twenty-three-year-old fourth-year law student from Saarbrucken (Saarland); and Martin Berger, a twenty-two-year-old third-year medical student from Greiz (Thuringia), near Hof. The text of these interviews follows.
