When value investing made its comeback in the second quarter, it looked as if all those charts and models and intense client service meetings had paid off. Value managers, feeling vindicated, breathed a collective sigh of relief.
Now a recent study conducted by David Eager Advisory Services, Louisville, Ky., reveals that, despite the very real possibility of manager termination during a down cycle, for the most part plan sponsors get it. The survey found that 87% of plan sponsors who responded understood the reasons for their value managers' poor performance and that most will continue investing in value.
