At a recent panel discussion at Georgetown University's Woodstock Theological Center titled, "Social Security Reform and Catholic Social Teaching," Sharon Daly of Catholic Charities USA called Social Security "the most successful antipoverty program ever known" (Woodstock Report, June 1999).
