MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL, Minn., Sept. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Northwest Airlines (Nasdaq: NWAC) and Malaysia Airlines have signed a commercial cooperation agreement which will include code-share service, frequent flyer plan reciprocity and "seamless" flight connections. It is the first alliance between a U.S. and a Malaysian carrier.

The partnership strengthens both airlines' services in the U.S.-Malaysia market. Northwest inaugurated service to Kuala Lumpur on February 25, 1999 with flights three times weekly from the United States via a stop at Osaka, Japan.
