Arrow Electronics has established a dedicated Internet Business Group that will provide Web-based electronic commerce for its customers worldwide.
"Unlike most companies, we chose to develop our services before we talked about them," says Steve Kaufman, Arrow chairman and chief executive officer.
Arrow actually developed a secure, password-protected extranet for its North American customers about a year ago. Currently about 2,000 customers can check Arrow's inventory online, get their own contract pricing, place orders, and monitor their order processing.
