We all know vitamin C is good for a variety of problems. Most of us think about using it when we have a cold, but recently several studies have shown it may have beneficial effects beyond the average case of the sniffles.

Researchers from the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University urge doubling the recommended daily allowance (RDA) of vitamin C to 120 mg. The current RDA for vitamin C for nonsmoking adults is 60 mg, based on the requirement to prevent scurvy. Researchers from the National Institute of Health recommend a daily vitamin C intake of 100 mg to 200 mg to reduce the risk of cancer.
