Shuaiba contract still up in the air
Some 21 months may have passed since bids were submitted to build the 1,750-MW Shuaiba power plant, but Saudi Consolidated Electric Company for the Western Region (EWR) remains undecided both about the preferred bidder and whether to carry out the project on a turnkey or a build-own-operate (BOO) basis (MEED 6:2:98).
In the latest twist to the story, EWR has invited consultants to bid by 27 October to act as the owner's engineer. The local Saudi Consulting Services (SaudConsult) and the UK's Merz & McLellan have been acting as consultants on the turnkey option and had recently completed the technical evaluation of the ...
