Textron buys gear maker David Brown
Textron Inc. has completed its purchase of David Brown Group PLC of the United Kingdom for $326 million and the assumption of debt. Textron expects the acquisition to help boost its Fluid and Power Systems group into a $1 billion business. David Brown manufactures industrial gears and mechanical and hydraulic transmission systems, as well as industrial pumps. It is based in Huddersfield, England, and has 3,250 employees at 72 facilities in 23 countries. Textron is based in Providence, R.I.
