Sep. 29 -- Shoney's Inc. has closed two of its four Savannah restaurants as part of a companywide effort to weed out or revive its least profitable locations.
Shoney's spokeswoman Betty Marshall said the company permanently closed its locations Monday at 1701 E. Victory Drive in Savannah and at 4800 Augusta Ave. in Garden City.
The two restaurants had a total of 100 employees. In a prepared statement, the company said it is working with employees to try to identify job openings at the remaining Shoney's restaurants and at other restaurants in the area. Shoney's continues to operate two restaurants at 7920 ...
