ST. LOUIS, Oct. 1 /PRNewswire/ -- Contrary to popular belief, osteoporosis is not just a women's disease. One in five people affected with the disease are men, yet there are no U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved drugs for treatment of osteoporosis in men. Now, a new investigational study presented today at the 21st annual meeting of the American Society for Bone and Mineral Research suggests that treatment with Fosamax(R) (alendronate sodium) may be beneficial to men with osteoporosis.
