The daily college newspaper where Walter Cronkite once worked celebrated its centennial this weekend and has launched a scholarship to honor a reporter whose career was stopped by disease.
The Daily Texan began publishing a hundred years ago, and alumni such as the retired CBS anchorman Cronkite, former first lady Lady Bird Johnson, gossip columnist Liz Smith, journalist and author Liz Carpenter, and writer Bill Moyers turned out for the celebration.
