Oct. 1 -- DURHAM, N.H. -- Compaq Computer Corp. is making an equity investment in Smart Online, a Durham-based online small-business services firm.
The Houston-based computer maker also will feature Smart Online's content, which includes services and software applications geared toward small-business owners, on its Web site as part of a new suite of online business services.
Along with New York-based Rare Medium, the firm that helped design Smart Online's Web site, Compaq is taking a minority position in Smart Online, having purchased an undisclosed number of shares in the company.
