Robots pack cream cheese tubs into wrap-around cartons
In 1997, Kraft Foods was looking for ways to upgrade cartoning operations for 125- and 200-gm (4.4- and 7-oz) tubs of Philadelphia cream cheese at its plant in Fallingbostel, Germany. Kraft had designed a unique carton in which 20 tubs of cream cheese were assembled in four five-tub stacks inside a wrap-around carton. The carton has a cutout section and the tubs must be assembled so that the Kraft logo is perfectly aligned to the open area on all of the tubs.
