THE TITLE of Steven Collins's voluminous book, Nirvana and Other Buddhist Felicities: Utopias of the Pali Imaginaire, attracted my attention. As a Buddhist, I am always eager to learn about what others have to say about Buddhism. Collins offers an interesting look at the concept of nirvana and the traces of utopianism in a number of Buddhist stories.
