Oct. 11 -- Scheid Vineyards Inc. has completed planting a new, 750-acre vineyard it anticipates will become a flagship producer of premium wine grapes.
Scheid has also opened a new hospitality room and observation deck, connected to its tasting room at 1972 Hobson Road at U.S. Highway 101 south of Greenfield.
The new Mesa del Rio Vineyard is part of Scheid's 6,000-acre Monterey County vineyard operations. The Mesa del Rio site was added in late 1998; ground preparation took several months, and grapes were planted this summer.
