Oct. 12 -- If you're thinking about dumping the cable company to attach one of those pizza-sized satellite dishes to your home, get out a calculator to size up the price first.
Television is no longer a freebie in most households, it's a monthly utility bill that rivals the cost of the phone or light bill.
Things are changing quickly in the industry, with telecommunications companies rushing to grab households with new services. Adelphia Cable launched a digital service last week, offering the same high quality picture and sound as direct broadcast satellite, to 150,000 households in the Buffalo suburbs.
