Oct. 13 -- Gov. Christie Whitman yesterday chose the woman who has been one of her closest advisers on environmental issues to oversee the state's landmark effort to protect 1 million acres of forests, parks and farmland from development in New Jersey.
Judy Jengo, a deputy commissioner with the state Department of Environmental Protection, yesterday was named executive director of the Garden State Preservation Trust, a nine-member board newly created to recommend to the Legislature which open-space projects should get funds.
