A radioactive dish of stir-fried vegetables and chicken has been carefully stored as evidence and a Brown University student faces charges he slipped the poisoned chow to two classmates because of a soured romance, Providence police and the university said yesterday.
Graduate student Cheng Gu, 24, allegedly used iodine-125 to taint the culinary creation he gave to Yuanyuan Xiao, a fellow student in molecular pharmacology, said Providence police Capt. John Ryan.
Xiao told police she had been Gu's girlfriend in their native China and, for a time, in the United States. Also poisoned by the food was Xiao's roommate, James A. O'Brien, who sampled the ...
