Bee sting, drugs can cause severe allergic reaction.

Dear Dr. John: My cocker spaniel decided to investigate a bee in the yard last week and was stung on the face. Her muzzle blew up like a balloon and we took her to the vet's office immediately. The doctor gave her a shot of Benadryl intravenously. Within half an hour, her muzzle was almost back to normal and the swelling was gone. I myself have had a lifelong allergy to bee stings and have a supply of Epipens to prevent me from going into shock if I get stung. Can a sting pose a life-threatening situation to animals also? - M.W.
