"Clay Pigeons" doesn't exactly breathe new life into the serial killer film, but the corpse now has a nice, pink glow.
Joaquin Phoenix, indie film's current favorite Everyman, is Clay Bidwell, a feckless gas station attendant in an anonymous small town in Montana. Clay's got a problem. His angry best friend Earl (Gregory Sporleder) has just killed himself in front of Clay with Clay's gun in order to implicate him in his death because he has been sleeping with Earl's wife. At the same time, a serial killer makes his way into Clay's neck of the woods, ...
