Ragweed season hit the Bay State late this year, but it is finally here, and has arrived with a vengeance.
Allergy specialists say ragweed season, which usually begins in late August and peaks around Labor Day, came late this year, beginning around Labor Day and peaking over the past week or so.
"We're still seeing high pollen levels this week," said Dr. Thomas Johnson, medical director of New England Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Corp. of North Andover.
"It isn't as high as last week, but it is still very high. People are horribly ill. They have itchy, watery eyes and nasal congestion. Last week was the busiest week I've ever seen."
