Paul F. Levy, a prominent public administrator and consultant, will be named today as executive dean for administration and strategic planning at Harvard Medical School.
Levy, 48, an adjunct professor of urban studies and planning at MIT, will also fill the newly created position of vice president of Harvard Medical Center, an existing nonprofit consortium between the school and its affiliated hospitals.
From 1987 through 1992, Levy was director of the Massachusetts Water Resources Authority, where he led efforts to clean up Boston Harbor.
Before that, he was chairman of the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities.
