A film festival is only as good as the films in it. That goes even for the world's glitziest. But it's even truer for lower-profile, regional festivals like the one in Boston, now in its 14th year. From Sept. 10 to 20, area moviegoers will be able to sample all or some of the Boston Film Festival's slate of 44 feature films and 27 shorts. And while there is no apparent, breakout-crossover hit on the order of "Reservoir Dogs," there are several standouts.
