A new drug being tested in Boston and elsewhere to treat alcoholism could be the breakthrough scientists have searched for to keep a drunk away from a drink, researchers claim.
"It's not a miracle cure but it's a very exciting new medication that we have had some very terrific results with," said Dr. Domenic Cirualo, chairman and professor at Boston University's psychiatry department, which is running the local test in conjunction with the Boston Veterans Administration.
"Some people report dramatic changes in the way they look at alcohol and the desire to drink," he said.
