The evolution of Boston Duck Tours began on Andrew Wilson's sailboat in Boston Harbor.
Wilson was watching television in the summerof 1992 when he saw a presidential candidate named Bill Clinton campaigning on a nationwide bus tour. Wilson, then an executive with the Boston Co., decided to take his first cross-country trip by bus.
One stop was Elvis Presley's Graceland estate outside Nashville, Tenn., where he rode in a sightseeing trolley that doubled as a boat. Called a "duck," the quirky amphibious vehicle gave Wilson a business brainstorm.
