With the current popularity of young jazz artists who employ the post-bop styles of the '50s and '60s (such as Roy Hargrove, Joshua Redman and Cyrus Chestnut), there's been a revival of interest in the men who created the music. But though Tommy Flanagan and Kenny Barron have been receiving a lot of praise lately, the man who influenced them and many others, Hank Jones, has been overlooked.

Jones, whose first album, "Urbanity" (Verve), was recently reissued, has remained vital in the '90s, creating his most important recordings, a feat all the more impressive given that he turns 80 in July.
