For decades, the faded neon business signs and aging yellow brick buildings of Chinatown were the last things most would have called treasures.
But a city survey on the history of Chinatown buildings is shedding new light on the area's rich architectural history _ while drawing attention to concerns about overdevelopment.
"Boston has just put in place the most accurate survey of a Chinatown on the East Coast and possibly beyond," said cultural geographer Dr. Arthur Crim, author of the survey.
