In a major victory for the Boston Public Schools, the Jeremiah E. Burke High School all but regained its accreditation and Dorchester High will remain on probation rather than lose its accreditation.
The New England Association of Schools and Colleges' Commission on Public Secondary Schools yesterday recommended its board grant initial accreditation to Burke in September.
Initial accreditation means Burke will be considered a new school by the NEASC.
"It's wonderful news," said Superintendent Thomas W. Payzant. "It really reflects the hard work of the staff, students, administrators and parents at both schools."
