If my name were Jon Platt, and I controlled the Wilbur Theatre, I'd be begging the producers of "The Beauty Queen of Leenane," currently playing on Broadway, to send a touring company my way. Mopping up the 1998 Tony awards for acting for three of the four members of the cast, "The Beauty Queen" is one of the most engrossing theatrical evenings in recent memory.
Set in contemporary times in Leenane, a small town in Connemara, County Galway, Ireland, the play tells a seemingly familiar story of a 40-something woman, Maureen Folan (Marie Mullen), stuck in a rural cottage with her manipulating mother, Mag (Anna Manahan).
