Is it still possible in this age of born-again disaster movies to appreciate the virtues of a solid, well-crafted film? "Out of Sight," Steven Soderbergh's smart adaptation of the novel by Elmore Leonard, is in danger of getting swept aside by such "event" films as "The X-Files" and "Armageddon." That would be a shame, since "Out of Sight" is one of the few satisfying films in a season conspicuous for its lack of them.
Funny, stylish, beautifully photographed and cast and above all steamy, the film is grounded in the unlikely love affair of a lifetime ...
