Article: Redux study heartening.

People who took the diet pill Redux before it was yanked from pharmacies last fall due to concerns about potential heart-valve damage may be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Yesterday, a Georgetown University researcher released data that appear to refute anecdotal evidence that linked Redux to cardiac problems.

Neil Weissman, whose study was funded by Redux's maker, based his findings on a review of 1,072 patients, about half of whom took the drug, the other half a placebo.

Redux sales were halted in September.
