Oscar Levant once said, "I knew Doris Day before she was a virgin."
The humorist-musician cracked wise after Doris, nicknamed Dodo, did a series of er, um, sex comedies in the late '50s and early '60s where she played a successful career woman fending off the amorous advances of a handsome leading man.
It seems she did about 10 of those things with Rock Hudson but there were only three: "Pillow Talk," "Lover Come Back" and "Send Me No Flowers."
She recently said, "All my memories of working with him are of us just laughing and laughing."
The critics hammered her in those roles but the public loved her and through most of that time, ...
