WASHINGTON - The White House yesterday stonewalled questions about a private meeting between Monica S. Lewinsky and President Clinton last December, as negotiations to get Lewinsky to testify against Clinton hit an impasse.
The Dec.28 meeting, reportedly confirmed by White House logs, could provide key evidence in prosecutors' attempts to show that Clinton tried to get Lewinsky to cover up their affair.
It took place just 10 days before the 24-year-old former White House intern gave a deposition denying she had sex with Clinton.
