Demi goes butch in "G.I. Jane," a half-baked drama about a woman who wants to be a Navy SEAL. Even the film's title is a joke. Those who serve in the Navy are never called GIs, but I suppose "Sailor Jane" didn't have quite the same ring.
Directed by Ridley Scott ("Alien," Thelma & Louise") in the heavy-handed manner of his brother Tony ("Top Gun," "Days of Thunder"), "G.I. Jane" is, we hope, the final installment in a trilogy of films starring Demi Moore, including the similarly misconceived "Scarlet Letter" and "Striptease."
