The season has been a succession of controversies and scandals, but Jimy Williams is not one to be absorbed by self-pity. He waited eight years to reclaim a position as a Major League manager. He is not about to tell anyone how hard the job can sometimes be.
Baseball has not been a game of player management for Williams this year.
It's been crisis management.
"I think the stage was set -- the whole scenario was set -- the day I met (the media) in my press conference, wasn't it?" Williams said, recalling the icy reception he received upon being hired by the Sox on Nov. 18. "The thing I remember more than anything was, 'How are you going to take ...
