Steve Avery, hobbled by a left groin strain since early May, is on track to pitch again for the Red Sox next weekend in Chicago. Avery will make one more rehab start for the PawSox Monday in Scranton, Pa., or Tuesday in Pawtucket. If all goes well, Avery will presumably get the green light to rejoin his team.
"I'm ready to go now," a tanned Avery, who has spent most of his time of late rehabbing in sunny Fort Myers, said yesterday. "I've felt good for probably the last 10 days or two weeks."
