Working for the state may seem like a safe and cushy job, but in every polished marble corner of the State House, danger lurks.
Paper cuts. Headaches. Nausea. Sore feet. Sniffles. Slippery stairs. These are the hidden hazards of working for state government.
Luckily, the Legislature and Governor William F. Weld provide a fully staffed physician's office in the State House - even though most state employees are already covered by state-funded health insurance.
Treatment is always free for the workers, but not for state taxpayers, who shell out nearly $200,000 a year for a doctor and three nurses to run the physician's office.
