Ed Winiker, a pianist and founder of the Winiker Orchestra, died Monday in Boca Raton Community Hospital in Boca Raton, Fla. He was 76.
Born in Warwick, R.I., Mr. Winiker was a graduate of the University of Alabama and served in the Army during World War II.
A classically trained pianist, Mr. Winiker founded his first orchestra in high school in 1939. He went on to tour with the Charlie Barnett Orchestra, Harrington's New Englanders and the Cavaliers. In 1962 he formed a family orchestra with his wife and two sons. ...
