Article: 'Light' cigarettes heavy on nicotine.

The state released more evidence yesterday showing that 'light' and 'ultra light' cigarettes are no safer than regular smokes.

Eighty-five percent of the top-selling brands, including many of the 'light' cigarettes, were found to yield high levels of nicotine in the first-ever analysis conducted by the Department of Public Health.

The findings prompted the president of the American Cancer Society to call on the federal government to change the way it measures tar and nicotine levels.
