Much as Tibetan refugees living in Boston welcome attention to the plight of their homeland, they can't help themselves when Americans get carried away.
"We call them Tibetniks," one said gently about Hub residents gone ga-ga over Tibetan creed and culture.
Tibetniks: A faded Free Tibet bumper sticker on the Saab. A mandala on the wall. Those who like to "hang" with "real" Tibetans. Who toss off Tibetan phrases like "tashi delek" (a salutation) or earnestly quote His Holiness the Dalai Lama. Many are deeply interested in Tibetan philosophy; some want in on the cause du jour.
Save Tibet! Yeah, man, I went to the concert.
