The new year may already be a week old, but it's not too late to indulge in the favorite seasonal parlor game of pundits and prognosticators everywhere: What trends will be trendiest in the coming year? Will it be marshmallows and mashed potatoes? French toast and foie gras? Diver scallops and doughnuts?
Only time will tell, but that won't stop us. There's just one caveat as we peer into the culinary crystal ball: If we could really see the future, we'd be putting the skill to better use than this.
