Doug Lipman brings a new twist to the old tradition of Jewish storytelling: The world-traveling Lipman tells many of his tales to non-Jewish and multicultural audiences.
His new tape, "The Soul of Hope: An Epic Tale of the Baal Shem Tov," touches upon the founding of the Hasidic sect in the 18th century.
He'll share his two-hour creation at the Cambridge Multicultural Arts Center tomorrow and the Worcester Friends Meeting House on Dec. 28.
"It's a good introduction to Jewish mysticism, a thing not everyone knows about," said the Winchester resident, who has recently told the tale in New Zealand and Alaska.
