The Lady Chablis, now famous for playing herself in Clint Eastwood's film version of "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil," sounded distinctly fuzzy down in South Carolina.
"Can you call me back in just five minutes?" came the groggy request. "I want to wake up and crawl out of my bed."
The conversation resumed 15 minutes later when the Lady, who refers to herself as "the Doll," her nightclub moniker, enjoyed a noon wake-up with a strong cup of herbal tea.
"I've never been to Boston, and I hear the temperature dips. Is Boston cold, honey?" wondered the Lady. "I think it's too cold for me to take my generic white poodle to Boston."
