CLEVELAND - The Baseball Writers Association of America all but made it official yesterday. Nov.3 will be Nomar Garciaparra Day.

Prior to the start of Game 3 of the World Series last night at Jacobs Field, the BBWAA revealed the dates it will announce this year's major award winners. The first will be the American League Rookie of the Year Award, an honor Garciaparra is expected to win in a landslide.

Barring any surprises, Garciaparra will be a unanimous choice. Last week, major league managers and coaches voted him the winner of the AL Silver Slugger Award, given annually to the best offensive player at his position in each league.
